EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES and COLLEGIAL INTERACTION

CalSAE provides numerous opportunities for association professionals to expand their personal and professional development through innovative, relevant educational programs:


Education & Networking Opportunities

Annual Conference CalSAE's premier educational event including three days of educational opportunities and a variety of social events.  The event is held in April each year.
 
Quarterly Education & Luncheon Meetings – These events contain an educational session in the morning followed by a featured keynote speaker during lunch who focuses on professional development and timely issues. Each region produces four local regional education luncheons. Each region also hosts breakfast get-togethers and/or evening receptions.
 
Education Sessions –CalSAE provides programming that is designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of association professionals. With programs ranging from our short, intense two hour xPresso Ed sessions to our longer full day education programs such as the Executive Education Series, we seek to address the diverse needs of our audience with convenient, well focused and affordable programming.
 
Executive Roundtable Discussions – Each Region holds regular, informal discussions, which provide interaction directly with colleagues, answers to your burning questions and helps build community amongst CalSAE members.
 
Annual Trade ShowSeasonal Spectacular is a premier one-day program held in December offering educational sessions in the morning and tremendous networking opportunities at the annual luncheon and trade show.
 
CalSAE~ConnectsThe online community of CalSAE allows members to form groups, exchange information, develop issue-forums and share resources in the "library".  You can also easily connect to your other communities such as Facebook and Twitter.
 
CAE Study Groups – For those pursuing their CAE Certification, the CalSAE study group meets once a week for two months prior to each national exam.
 
Golf Tournament – This major annual event is held in the fall and combines the fun of golfing and networking.
 

Publications & Information
 
The Executive – CalSAE's bi-monthly magazine with feature articles and association news.  Members can access current and past editions online in the Members Only section of the CalSAE Web Site (www.calsae.org).
 
www.calsae.org – CalSAE’s Web site provides members with a wide array of information including:
·         The Career Center, which is easy to use for posting resumes and job openings.
·         Calendar of Events listing state and local meetings, luncheons and events.
·         The “Buyer’s Guide” is a searchable online data base listing various products, services and hotel information specific to the association community. Find it in the “Products and Partners” section.
·         “Members Only” section, which includes our Legal Briefing containing multiple legal briefs on a variety of association topics, online member directory, current and past issues of The Executive magazine, and access to the membership list serve (also searchable by name, company and location).
·         Legislative Center – a compendium of articles and sample documents on a myriad of association issues. 
·         The Products and Partners section, which contains a wide array of advertising and marketing opportunities.
 
CAE Study GuideThe CAE Study Guide was designed to lead you through the study and review process for taking the CAE examination. It is designed to provide an organized study approach and improve learning for the exam.
 
Annual Membership Directory – A useful reference tool, which contains a roster of all CalSAE members by individual and company, an overview of all CalSAE programs and services, and a listing of leaders and committees.
 
CalSAE Legislative Resource Guide to Associations –Targeted to the legislative and regulatory communities in California, this is the premier resource for accessing the association community in California. Members receive a free basic listing.
 
Association Profile Book – The CalSAE Association Profile Book provides Associate Members with the meeting biographies to over 160 participating member associations and serves as a tremendous research and marketing resource targeting qualified contacts.
 

Non-Dues Revenue Sharing Programs & Services

Interim Executive – Interim Solutions will provide an interim executive to CalSAE member organizations when a sudden vacancy occurs in the organization. An interim executive with experience managing an association can be an invaluable resource during a transition.
 
Teleconferencing – Conferencing for Associations provides members with outstanding discount pricing on audio and Web conferencing as well as other great services.
 
Workers’ Comp Insurance –State Compensation Insurance Fund provides a discount of 6% to CalSAE members.
 
Under Construction – The Affinity Programs Sub-Committee is continually evaluating new and creative methods to help members in their daily operation.

Additional Services, Support & Benefits

Association Management Library – Members are encouraged to borrow reference mateial and other publications from CalSAE's Lending Library.
 
Membership Surveys – Member Needs Assessment and Executive Compensation Study are conducted regularly. 
 
Volunteering – CalSAE members have the opportunity to participate in development of the Society’s many programs, and hone leadership skills by volunteering for CalSAE’s numerous Committees and Task Forces. 
 
Recognition – Each year, CalSAE recognizes three members for their exceptional service to the Society and the association community:
  • The Association Executive of the Year is awarded to the CEO of a member association/bureau based on contributions to CalSAE, the association profession and his/her employing organization.
  • The Associate Member of the Year is awarded to an Associate member who has supported the Society through committee participation, member recruitment, Board service and other volunteer efforts.
  • The Geri Hayes McDonald Staff Achievement Award is presented to a staff member of an association who demonstrates a strong commitment to CalSAE, the association profession and his or her particular organization.
  • Elaine Rose Scholarship for Small Associations is awarded to a newer member employed by a small association in order to attend the Annual Conference.
