How to incorporate participatory budgeting into committees and board decisions. 

Join us for a 1-hour presentation and roundtable discussion focusing on preeminent issues relevant to associations and partners. 

In this lunch and learn we will discuss the use of participatory budgets to guide decisions in committee and board discussions. The presentation will draw from the experience of an Oregon Parks & Recreation Association and the lessons learned in this process. A template dashboard will be provided to attendees to assist with work in their own organizations.

Time is available after the presentation for discussion among peers and shared learning.

Amanda Parsons, CAE, Executive Director, Oregon Parks & Recreation Association

Amanda (she/they), brings nearly a decade of experience to her role as Executive Director of the Oregon Recreation and Park Association, where she prioritizes the development of inclusive and accessible spaces for professional development in the parks and recreation sector. She holds a B.S. in Community Health Education from Portland State University, a certificate in Nonprofit Financial Management from Cornell University, and most recently earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential. In addition to her professional responsibilities, Amanda volunteers with the CalSAE, serving as the Vice Chair for the Oregon Regional Council and on the Membership Advisory Group, while also contributing to the Leadership Team for the Council of State Executive Directors, a nationwide group of park and recreation association executives. Amanda's commitment to ongoing education mirrors her curiosity for emerging trends and changes in the industry.

Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Amanda has a profound appreciation for the outdoors, often spending her free time kayaking, hiking, or exploring botanical gardens. During the winter months, she enjoys cozying up with a book and her three cats, relishing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest rain.
